Albright’s Raw Pet Food Recalls Chicken Recipe for Dogs Due to Potential Salmonella Contamination

Date: May 6, 2026

Recall Overview:

Products: Albright's Raw Pet Food – Chicken Recipe for Dogs Complete and Balanced

Issue: Possible Salmonella contamination, confirmed by FDA routine testing.

Affected Lots:

  • 1 lb pouches (sold in 30 lb cases), Lot #C001730
  • UPC: 20855404008367
  • Expiration Date: April 28, 2027

Distribution: Produced by Albright's Raw Pet Food of Fort Wayne, Indiana. The contamination was identified after FDA screening of samples for Salmonella, Listeria monocytogenes, and E. coli — one composite sample from the affected lot tested positive for Salmonella.

Health Risks:

Pets: Many dogs may carry Salmonella without showing symptoms, making them silent spreaders. Illness is more likely in puppies, senior dogs, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms include acute diarrhea, vomiting, lethargy, weakness, decreased appetite, fever, dehydration, and swollen lymph nodes. Severe cases may involve persistent fever, shock or collapse, septicemia, uncontrolled weight loss or blood loss, or prolonged diarrhea lasting more than 3–4 weeks — contact a veterinarian immediately if these occur.

Humans: Salmonella is a zoonotic disease, meaning it can pass between animals and people. Humans can become infected through direct contact with the contaminated product, with an affected pet, or with surfaces the product touched. Symptoms in people include diarrhea, stomach cramps, fever, nausea, vomiting, headache, and chills. Diarrhea or vomiting lasting more than 3 days warrants medical attention. Contact your healthcare provider if you show signs of infection after handling the recalled product or a pet that consumed it.

Actions:

Stop Use: Immediately stop feeding the recalled product to any animals. Do not sell or donate it.

Disposal: Dispose of the product securely so children, pets, and wildlife cannot access it, or return it to your retailer for a refund. Thoroughly wash and sanitize all pet food bowls, storage containers, utensils, and any surfaces that may have come into contact with the food. Always wash hands after handling the product.

Contact: Owners can reach Albright's Raw Pet Food for return or refund information:
