Darwin’s Natural Pet Products — BioLogics All-Natural & Grain-Free Beef Recipe for Dogs, sold in frozen 2-pound white/clear plastic packages (split into four 0.5 lb units)

Affected Lots:

Issue: One FDA sample tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes and another for both Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes

Health Risks:

Pets:

Possible symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea (possibly bloody), fever, loss of appetite, lethargy. Pets may also carry and shed bacteria without showing symptoms.

Humans:

Exposure through handling contaminated pet food can lead to illness. Symptoms may include fever, muscle aches, nausea, and diarrhea. Listeria infections are especially risky for pregnant women, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals.

Action Steps:

Stop Use: Do not feed any product from the affected lots to pets.
Disposal: Discard the product securely so that no animals or people can access it. Sanitize all bowls, containers, surfaces, storage areas, and wash hands thoroughly.
Contact: The FDA recommended that Arrow Reliance, Inc. recall the two affected lots. Consumers should check their freezers for these lots and follow disposal instructions.
